Oh yea, and one might suggest that I just go with the Ambient Light Sensor on its own without Adaptive Brightness, but that makes for a picture that is too dark in HDR, meaning I'll have to fiddle around with the settings as the lighting changes throughout the day. When active, this function can make the picture darker.

What gives? Has anyone else experienced this? I've even tried resetting the TV to factory settings but to no effect whatsoever. Many Samsung TVs have something called Ambient Light Detection. Then it's fine and the backlight even seems appropriate for the current lighting in the room. This is easily fixed, however, by going into settings and switching Intelligent Mode off and then back on. The weird thing about this is that every time I open up a new video on YouTube, Plex, etc., the backlight is turned down way, way low. Also, trying to use Adaptive Brightness while manually switching the Ambient Light Sensor off means the TV doesn't turn down the backlight as the sun goes down and it gets darker in the room. When I turn on Intelligent Mode so I can make use of the Adaptive Brightness function, I notice that the TV automatically turns on the Ambient Light Sensor under the Eco tab as well, so I assume it's a requirement for it to work.

I'd really like for my TV to automatically turn the backlight up and down along with the room lighting throughout the day. I'm having a weird issue with my new Q70R and I can't seem to find anyone else posting about it anywhere. Welcome to Fair Lawn Television Stations Facebook page Check us out on.
